SUMMER ENTERTAINING – MAKE YOUR GARDEN THE ULTIMATE PAD

We all want to make the most of the summer weather whilst it lasts! Many people are still feeling that they want to meet up and socialise outdoors. So, it’s definitely time to look at your outdoor space and decide if you can improve it to make it as “gathering friendly” as it can be!

If you are lucky enough to have one of our bespoke Garden Pods in your garden, you are very fortunate, as these are the ideal solution to outdoor socialising in Scotland. Family and friends can sit in these comfortable pods with the doors and windows open and admire the garden. Maybe head in there when the sun drops and it get a bit cooler. Or perhaps you have a guest who doesn’t like to sit in the sun too long.

Older members of the family can find the pod a very relaxing place in which to sit, possibly when the younger ones are running around with water cannons.

Even if you don’t have a pod or anything similar, there are still many things you can do to make your garden an inviting place, with yourself as a top host!

Here’s a few top tips:

A tidy garden – mow and strim the grass – pull out any weeds. Even if you have little success with plants, you can buy some extremely realistic artificial planted pots and hanging baskets.

A well planned garden – make sure you have enough seating for everyone. Is there a shaded area for a really hot day? What about a fire pit in the evening to extend the party with time for toasted marshmallows? Provide blankets and cushions and your guests may never want to leave!

A fragrant garden – fragrance is one of the aspects people can enjoy most about sitting outside in the summer. Add to your outdoor table by winding rosemary or lavender around the stems for a decadent and fragrant touch. Plant some night scented flowers such as Phlox, Honeysuckle or Jasmine to add wonderful aromas to evening gatherings. A herb wall beside the BBQ is another nice idea as it will also create delicious mouthwatering smells, and is easily accessible to add to your cooking, or for using in cocktails.

An atmospheric garden – this is where lighting comes into play, so experiment with string lights, large stake lighting and lanterns! Solar is, of course, the most eco friendly choice.

Most of all, enjoy your garden and enjoy your summer whatever you are doing!
